Industrial cleaning with steam
Saturated steam cleaning is the hygienic and ecological alternative for removing grease, biofilm, and encrusted residue from conveyor belts and production lines, reducing water consumption and eliminating microorganisms without aggressive chemicals.
What is steam cleaning?
Industrial steam cleaning uses high-temperature saturated steam (150 °C – 185 °C) and moderate pressure to disintegrate organic and inorganic contaminants.
The steam penetrates microscopic pores and cracks, dislodging dirt, while the low humidity (<6 %) prevents the accumulation of residual water.
Thermo-mechanical principle
The thermal shock breaks down fatty bonds and proteins, while the expansion of the steam generates micro-impacts that lift the dirt. As it condenses, the volume of steam decreases and drags particles towards the vacuum system.
Advantages for conveyor belts
- Immediate disinfection (>99.99 % microbial reduction) without chemicals.
- In-line treatment: does not require disassembly of the belt or complete stoppage of production.
- Reduced water consumption by up to 90 % compared to conventional cleaning.
- Compliance with HACCP and FDA standards for food industries.
Measurable results
• Reduction of belt cleaning time by 60 % compared to manual methods.
• Savings of 25 L of water per meter of belt in each cycle.
Steam cleaning process
1
STEAM INJECTION
Application of saturated steam through nozzles directed at the surface of the belt.
2
RESIDUE REMOVAL
The heat and expansion of the steam separate fats, sugars, and proteins.
3
VACUUMING AND DRYING
Integrated vacuum collector removes contaminants and condensate, leaving the belt practically dry.
Other industrial uses
- Cleaning of tanks and hoppers without disassembly.
- Surface disinfection in clean rooms.
- Removal of adhesive residue on packaging equipment.
- Cleaning of heat exchangers and filters.
Frequently asked questions about
industrial steam cleaning machinery
Does steam damage PVC or PU belts?
No. The exposure time and temperature are adjusted to prevent deformation; in addition, the low humidity minimizes thermal stress.
How long does it take for the belt to dry after cleaning?
Condensation is minimal: the surface is operational in less than 5 min without the need for additional compressed air.
Can the system be integrated into an automatic line?
Yes, ICS steam systems are integrated into conveyor belts to perform cleaning without stopping production.
